Winter Road Trip

Winter is a great time to enjoy a family road trip.  Here are 3 outdoor adventures for your family to experience.

Discover the Little Penguin Trail, in Gatineau, Quebec.  About 5 1/2 hours from Waterloo Region, this 5km outdoor skating trail is built on the enchanting site of the Touraine Golf Club. Only 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa and 15 minutes from downtown Gatineau! Enjoy the unique experience of skating on a gorgeous icy path in the middle of nature. With the trees in the forest full of freshly fallen snow, it’s truly magnificent!

Take to the ice on The Bentway Skate Trail’s 220-metre figure-eight loop! Found under the Gardiner Expressway on Fort York Blvd., in Toronto this unique skating experience is open until February 21.  Only an hour and 1/2 drive from the Waterloo Region to downtown Toronto.  This Winter, The Bentway is offering skate rentals, skate sharpening, and special events.  Buy a hot drink and explore the Waterfront after your skate!

The wooded trails at Mountsberg are always beautiful in the wintertime but now they are more magical than ever! The Winterlit Trail features a unique and stunning lighting experience with inspirational art installations along the trail. Also at Mountsberg, the Illuminated Sugarbush Trail has soft overhead lighting to allow for a beautiful evening stroll through the sugarbush.  Located just 40 minutes from the Waterloo Region, this experience will include soundtracks from local musicians while you enjoy the beauty of Mountsberg in winter.
